Here’s what Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age played as they kicked off their 2026 North American tour

Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age have kicked off their 2026 North American stadium tour in Toronto – check out footage and setlists below.

The two bands began their run of shows together on the ‘Take Cover’ tour at Rogers Stadium on Tuesday night (August 4), along with an opening set from Mannequin Pussy.

It marked the Foos’ follow-on from their recent European run that included two huge sold-out nights at Anfield in Liverpool and was also their first show in Toronto since 2018. QOTSA, meanwhile, recently wrapped up a European tour opening for System Of A Down, and were playing their first North American date since their orchestral Catacombs Tour in April and May.

Josh Homme and co. took to the stage first and played an 11-track hits-packed show including the likes of ‘In My Head’, ‘I Sat By The Ocean’, ‘Go With The Flow’, ‘No One Knows’ and ‘A Song For The Dead’.

Foo Fighters emerged for their set through red smoke and played a huge show spanning their whole career, including just one track from new album ‘Your Favorite Toy‘ (‘Caught In The Echo’), as well as a version of ‘Aurora’ dedicated to late drummer Taylor Hawkins and ‘The Teacher’ for Dave Grohl‘s later mother Virginia.

They played a section in the middle of the show on their smaller B-stage, with acoustic versions of ‘Wheels’ and ‘Big Me’ and a Grohl solo version of ‘Under You’, before eventually closing the show with ‘Everlong’, backed with fireworks.

When the tour was first announced late last year, Grohl recalled first seeing Homme play with Kyuss in 1992, and celebrated his “lifelong bond” with him, describing their friendship as one “that goes far beyond the sound we’ve made together”.

NME was at one of Foo Fighters’ shows at Anfield, giving it four stars and noting: ” It all feels a little too familiar to the usual Foos fare, but Radiohead they are not. This is what they do. Grohl asks why oh why the band are only playing these two Liverpool gigs in their home away from home of the UK this year, but assures us that this is merely  “a cocktail party before the big dinner” – with talk of some big plans in Blighty for 2027. For now, “this is just the first date”, so pucker up for Saturday and party on.”

QOTSA, meanwhile, recently returned with their first new single since 2023’s ‘In Times New Roman…‘, in the form of the psychedelic ‘Easy Street’, and earlier this week they launched their own 24/7 complaints hotline, with “no bitching too big” and “no whiny too tiny”.

The ‘Take Cover’ tour will continue at Detroit’s Ford Field tonight (August 6), before heading around North America until the final show in Las Vegas on September 26.
