LEGO is bringing KPop Demon Hunters to brick form with a new collaboration between the Danish toy giants and Netflix – check out the teaser here.
Fans will be able to recreate some of the most well-known scenes from the hit animated movie, and there are more sets planned for 2027 already.
The first LEGO KPop Demon Hunters set will focus on Derpy, the supernatural tiger who first appears from the underworld as Saja Boys leader Jinu’s pet but soon becomes a companion for Huntr/x leader Rumi, too. In the teaser, he can be seen knocking over a flowerpot.
It’s so far unknown whether the LEGO KPop Demon Hunters universe will use minidolls, minifigures, or a combination of the two – though Huntr/x did appear as minifigures in LEGO Fortnite.
On social media, the news received a mixed reception. LEGO enthusiast and web personality Tiago Catarino wrote, “It’s gonna be golden!!” while another said, “Love this. We need a LEGO couch for Derpy.”
Others, however, weren’t so impressed. One user commented, “Another waste of a theme,” while one more simply said, “Ew.”
This isn’t the first time LEGO and Netflix have teamed up. Previously, they’ve worked on Stranger Things and One Piece sets. And last month, LEGO released its first three Pokémon sets, from a series of releases to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
However, some fans were outraged at the prices, one writing online, “That is absolutely insane. For that price, you can buy a brand new Nintendo Switch 2 plus the last two Pokémon games. I know which choice is going to feel more worthwhile.”
KPop Demon Hunters, meanwhile, became the most-watched original title in Netflix history after it began streaming in June last year, and it became the first Netflix film to top the box office in the US.
The soundtrack became the first film soundtrack to have four songs in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously, and it was certified double platinum in the US in October.
It’s also up for two Oscars next month – Best Original Song for ‘Golden’ and Best Animated Feature – while ‘Golden’ won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammys earlier this month.
And at the BAFTA Awards on February 22, EJAE (the singing voice of Huntr/x’s Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and Rei Ami (Zoey) will all be performing ‘Golden’ together. However, the film will not be eligible for the BAFTA Awards due to regulations surrounding cinema releases.
Despite being ineligible, the artists themselves said, “Performing at the EE BAFTA Film Awards is a golden moment that our younger selves could never have imagined! We’re so proud to represent Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters and spread the film’s positive message to fans around the globe.”
