Slayer’s Kerry King announces first solo North American headline tour

Slayer’s Kerry King has announced his first ever solo headline tour of North America, to take place in January and February 2025.

The guitarist has also shared a new video for ‘Where I Reign’, taken from his debut solo album ‘From Hell I Rise’, which was released in May. Check out the video below.

The first ever tour will kick off in San Francisco’s The Regency Ballroom on January 15, and take in a total of 28 cities, culminating with Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre on February 22. Tickets are on sale now and you can get yours here.

“Getting back on the road for the first time in five years wasn’t exactly like riding a bike, that’s for sure,” King has said. “I’ve never had that much time off, but the first tours with my new band — in the U.K. and Europe, and then in America with Lamb of God and Mastodon — were all total blasts. We’ll be headlining on this next tour, so we’re playing a longer set than we did with Lamb of God and Mastodon. We’ve got a little bit of a learning curve, so will start rehearsing the first week of November. And we might put an extra Slayer song into the set and learn a cover song or two.”

Slayer confirmed their unlikely return after nearly five years earlier this year, revealing they would be headlining two September festivals – Riot Fest in Chicago (22) and Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky (27).

While the former went off without a hitch, the second of those had to be cancelled due to extreme weather. The entire second day of Louder Than Life had to be called off for safety reasons following the after-effects of Hurricane Helene.

Slayer are also due to perform at Aftershock Festival in California on October 10, alongside the likes of Iron MaidenSlipknot and Mötley Crüe.

Chances of a Slayer reunion had previously appeared slim after Kerry King announced his solo album just weeks before revealing their comeback performances. The musician had previously described the new project as “an extension of Slayer”.

The guitarist previously expressed regret over the end of Slayer, admitting in 2021 that he thinks they “quit too early”.

In June however, King did insist that Slayer “will never tour again”. Following the reunion shows announcement, he also told Classic Rock History: “Don’t get used to this being a yearly event.”

In other news, this summer King admitted that he regrets not cutting a better deal for his guitar solo on Beastie Boys’ ‘No Sleep Till Brooklyn’.
