Gavin And Stacey star Joanna Page said she was “ordering a burger” when she received the script for the show’s finale.
The show’s final episode was confirmed back in May, with the episode set to air on Christmas Day this year. The news leaked ahead of the official announcement, which star Rob Brydon recently admitted was “horrible”.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wales about the forthcoming show’s script, Page, who plays Stacey in the show, said: “I finally have got the script. I’m so terrified – it was fine at first, before we got the script, because I could be asked stuff and I’d be like: ‘Well, I genuinely don’t know’.
“Now I know, I am so frightened in anything I say that it’s sort of best to just not say anything at all. I’m terrified.”
She went on to reveal that she received the script during a break from filming another series she is currently working on.
“It was about seven o’clock at night, and I was thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, are they gonna send it? Are they gonna send it?'” Page said. “Because they had sent a message saying that they had now finished it, and I was in the services and suddenly I looked at my phone.
“I was waiting for my burger to come through, I was really tired as well, and I looked down at my phone, I thought ‘Oh, I wonder if it’s there?’ and suddenly it flashed up and the script had arrived.”
She added: “I looked around – it was quite surreal. And I thought, ‘I’m standing here in the services, waiting for my burger, and everybody else is ordering, and on my phone right now I have got something on here that everybody would love to know what’s going on.’”
Meanwhile, the actor who plays Neil the Baby in Gavin And Stacey recently admitted his disappointment in missing out on being cast in the show’s finale.
Fans are keen to see the outcome of the 2019 Christmas cliffhanger, which saw Nessa (Ruth Jones) propose to Smithy (James Corden), with the scene cut before he could give an answer.
